Married Elizabeth KNEEBONE in Nevada Co., California, USA

This article appeared in the Grass Valley Weekly Telegraph and was submitted by Merle Beck of New Zealand to Bob Kinsmans' Kinsman Cousin Newsletter:

KINSMAN - KNEEBONE
Two well known people married Thursday evening. Thursday evening at 8:00 o'clock, Rev. E.M Willis united in marriage, Mr Alfred Kinsman and Mrs. Eliz. Kneebone.

The ceremony took place at the home of the Bride in the presence of the relatives and intimate friends of the couple. Both the Bride and Bridegroom are well known residents of Grass Valley and are highly thought of in the community. Mr. Kinsman is a member of the City Board of Education.

During the evening, the Methodist Church Choir, of which Mr. Kinsman is a member, serenaded the couple, rendering some very pretty selection.

Mr & Mrs Kinsman will reside at Canal Bay Avenue.

Notes

  • From Merle Beck:

1871 Census - Alfred was listed as a miner and living at home.  He and his wife Jane (nee Phillips)  must have gone over to California.

On the 1880 US Census they were living at Grass Valley, Nevada, California, USA. with one son Howard 1 month old.  They had the other 2 daughters Mabel in 1883 and Inez in 1887 in California.

Jane may have died and he married a Mrs Elizabeth Kneebone about 1897.

On the 1900 US Census it gave the three children living at home and said that he had been in his present marriage 3 years.  His occupation was a miner.  Howard's was a butcher. On the 1900 Grass Valley, Nevada Census Alfred's immigration date to USA was 1866 and living on his own income.

    Elizabeth's immigration date was 1876.
