  • This Thomas was the first cousin of William (1799) who emigrated to Ontario in the 1850s. It seems highly plausible that William?s decision to emigrate was inspired by reports sent from Ontario by his cousin.

Confusingly, evidence points to there being two Thomas Kinsmans who married two Graces. One of these had children Thomas Barrett and Mary Ann Kinsman in Cornwall and then emigrated to Canada, his wife Grace died abt 1836 and he then married Mary [Jeffrey] Barrett.

The other one had several children including a Thomas (also born in 1827) and a Mary (not born until 1837).  This Thomas died about 1840 and Grace and the children appear on the 1841 UK census.
