Notes
- William is added as possible son to Richard based only on location and his likely age (worked backwards from, again, the probable birth period of his son Richard). No baptisms have been found in either case.
Naming patterns would also suggest that Richard, firstborn to William, was named for his paternal grandfather, Richard.
There is a futher probable link of Richard (c1630) to Richard who married Jane Brownlow via the 14 acres and four cottages that eventually devolved to Richard the younger from the Brownlow family in 1655 (see notes on Richard c1630). - Linley Hooper's website contains a wealth of information about the parish of Belton and what was happenign in the Isel of Axholme in the 17th century when it was being drained under the orders of the King (Charles I) but against the wishes and interests of the local population.
Amongst this information is the following about this Kinman family:
"Three Belton gentlemen, Richard Taylor, Robert Popplewell and Richard Kinman, 'and several other Commoners' brought a Bill in the Exchequer court against Pinder, Ryther, Coggan and Mawe 'for a Discovery of their Irregular and fraudulent proceedings', but failed to get the decree reversed. Richard Kinman had been involved in actions in the 1660s, his brother had led actions in the 1680s, and his father William had earlier been an activist. Richard Kinman was a cousin of Robert Popplewell, and Robert Popplewell was a second cousin of Richard Taylor."
