Notes

  • Henry Kingsman, son of John Valentine Kingsman and Mary [Sheering], was born  about 1805 in St. Andrews Middlesex.  He was baptised on the 27th October 1805 at St. Andrews Middlesex and was probably their first child.  The family was living at Leather Lane in 1807  but his mother and father and younger siblings later moved to Southwark.  Henry though stayed north of the Thames until he moved (perhaps with his job as a gasfitter) to the new gas works at Windsor.

Henry started off working with brass presumably learning his trade from his father.  It seems a reasonable progression from brass fabrication to using the brass fittings in the newly burgeoning gas industry and so Henry became a gas fitter for much of his life.  He spent his latter years living by the Gas Works in Windsor.  In 1881 his son William, also a gas fitter, is listed as being the head of the household at number 2 Gas House Lane and his mother and father are there living there with him and his family.

Henry died aged 80 in 1884 in Windsor.  His death was likely coincident with that of his wife as her death also appears on the same page of the Windsor registry.  Elizabeth was also shown as being 80 years old at the time of her demise.
