  • Ann Ship was born on the 4th February 1844 at home at 5 Union Street, Bishopsgate . Her father was registered as George Ship, a mason.  Her mother, Ann [Kingsman] registered the birth on the 11th March. She married Francis Yore on the 19th February 1872 at Islington Registry Office.  He was born in 1842 in Dublin, the son of Francis Yore.

    In 1871 Ann was living with her husband to be at 2 White Conduit Street, Clerkenwell.  They already had a two year old son (Francis) and baby Walter.  Francis is described as being a coach trimmer both on the census  and on their marriage certificate.

    On their marriage certificate Annie is listed as a 27 year old spinster of no profession, Francis was a 28 year old bachelor working as a coach trimmer.  His father is given as Francis Yore, a coach maker and Annie's as George Ship, a marble polisher.  Their address is given as 6 Alma Grove, Islington.  Both parties signed their own names.  The witnesses were John Fitzgerald (made his mark) and Eliza Saunders.

    Annie and Francis Yore emigrated to New Zealand on the ship Carnatic sailing from London on the 28th September 1874 and arriving in Picton (top of the South Island) on the 10th January 1875, then arriving Wellington 16th January 1875 - a three month journey.

    According to the shipping documents Frank was aged 34 born Dublin, Annie aged 30 with children:

    Frank aged 6; Walter aged 4; Willie aged 2; Maria aged 6 months

    Nora Amelia was born later on the 16th February 1876 in Wellington.

    Francis died on the 13th June 1912 in New Zealand.

    Ann died on the 8th August 1926 in New Zealand.
