Notes

  • Emma Ann Kingsman, daughter of Thomas Kingsman and Caroline [Baggot] was born in 1839 in Lambeth.  She married George Pester 1859 in Newington, son of John Pester, an agricultural labourer.  George was born 1839 in Aldershot, Hampshire .

George Pester seems to have been fairly successful in his business undertakings.  He started off as the son of an agricultural labourer, obviously with some skill at handling horses.  From this he went on to work as a Cab driver (as in Hackney cab) starting what was evidently a family business into which at least two of his four sons followed.  Certainly, by 1891 he is described as living on his own means, while his eldest son George, living with him, is described as a Cab Proprietor.  This same description is used for his second son, Walter, in 1901.

Emma Ann {Pester} died aged 46 in 1886 in Lambeth.

George Pester died 1902 in Lambeth, aged 64.
