Notes

  • Richard was the eldest son of Robert & Agnes.

Richard was Churchwarden at Overton in 1606 (parish records)

In 1615 he was asked by Richard Smith of West Overton to be overseer of his will.

In his own will he left significant money bequests to each of his children; ?150 each to Alice & Joanne; ?100 each to Mary & Katherine; ?200 to Richard.  He left everything else to his wife and his son Robert, who was named executor.  Robert is therefor the most likely eldest son, even though he was last named in the will.

The total monetary bequests (?700) equates to about ?1.3 million in 2007 based on average earnings.
