Other facts

Married Alice

  • At the time of his will (1537) only his son John was of legal age. He is entrusted with the care of his two younger brothers, Robert and William, and to hand over a specified parcel of land, corn, 40 sheep and a cow, to each of them when they reach the age of 21.

Their brother Edward at that time was in training to become a Priest.  John and Thomas' wife Alice are requested to support him while he completes his education and then to give him 20 nobles (1 noble being 13 shillings and eight pence, this amounts to ?13 13s 4d - equivalent to about ?64,000 today escalated as average earnings).

Their two sisters, Isabel [Thomas' grandmother was Isabel Fazakerly] and Margery, were also underage and left to the care of their mother, each to receive 40 sheep and a cow when they came of age.
