Pleas at Westminster before Anthony Broune and his fellows, justices of the lady queen de Banco, for Hilary term in the 1st year of the reign of lady Elizabeth by the grace of God queen of England, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, &c.
Leticia Hamden widow, administratrix of the goods and chattels that were of Edward Hamden gentleman deceased, who died intestate &c. appeared by her attorney for a fourth day against John Love late of Solby in county Northampton gentleman, in a plea that he render her £13 6s 8d; and against Roger Carrell late of Bugby in county Northampton yoman, in a plea that he render her £6 13s 4d; and against Robert Kynsman [Note 1] late of Byllynge in county Northampton yoman, in a plea that he render her 100s; which they unjustly withhold from her &c.
And (the defendants) have not come; and it had been ordered the sheriff to summon them &c.; and the sheriff now reports that they have nothing (in his bailiwick in lands or chattels whereby they might be attached) &c.
Therefore let them be taken, to be here on the octaves of Candlemas [note 2] &c. On which day here comes the aforesaid Leticia by her attorney, and appears for a fourth day against the aforesaid John, Roger and Robert in the plea aforesaid; and they have not come; and it had been ordered the sheriff to take them &c.; and the sheriff now reports that they are not found &c.
Therefore, as before, let them be taken, to be here on the quindene of Easter [note 3] &c.
And be it known that the justices here in court this same term delivered the writ thereon to William Badger deputy sheriff of the county aforesaid to execute in form of law &c.
1. It is possible that this court summons pertains to Robert Kinsman of Loddington. He is the only affirmed Robert Kinsman in the area at this time, but the reference to him as a yeoman (should at least be Esquire) of Billing (some distance from Loddington) speaks against this.
