In the Name of God, Amen
I Maria Scattergood of the town of Hoddesdon in the County of Hertford, spinster, being of sound and disposing memory and understanding do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following
I give and bequeath unto my cozen Captain Richard Peronall his executors and administrators all my moneys upon Government or other securities and all other my personal estate whatsoever upon the several trusts hereafter mentioned that is to say upon trust that he the said Richard Peronall his executors administrators shall and do out of the interest and produce of my said personal estate pay such and such legacies as hereafter mentioned.
I leave to my nephew John Aislabee the sum of £20 and the same sum of £20, to my nephew William Long Kingsman, and to my friend Mr Peregrine Langton of Paitney in Lincolnshire the sum of £50 to be paid him immediately at my decease for the great regard he always expressed for me and to whom I owe great obligations to,
And all the rest of my money upon Government or other securities I desire may be equally divided between my brother Dr Thomas Yate and my sister Catherine Scattergood they only to pay to my sister Caroline Scattergood during her life one annuity or yearly rent charge of £20 a year at four quarterly payments in the year, that is to say Lady Day, Midsummer Day, Michaelmas Day and Christmas Day by equal portions the first of the said payments to begin and be made on the first of the said days as shall happen after my decease
And I further bequeath to my sister Catherine Scattergood all my plate clothes linen and household furniture belonging to me,
And I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Richard Peronall executor of this my said will and do give unto him £50 for his trouble in the execution of the trusts hereby by me in him reposed.
In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 17th day of July in the year of our Lord 1756.
Signed sealed published and declared by the testatrix in the presence of asked who in the presence and at the request of the said testatrix subscribed our names as witnesses hereto
On the 19th day of August in the year of our Lord 1763 administration with the will annexed of the goods chattels and credits of Maria Scattergood late of the town and County of Lincoln, spinster, deceased, was granted to Catherine Scattergood spinster, the natural and lawful sister of the said deceased and one of these residuary legatees named in the said will, Richard Peronall Esq the executor and residuary legatee in trust named in the said will first renouncing as well the execution thereof as letters of administration with the said will annexed of the goods of the said deceased having being first sworn duly to administer.
On the 28th day of February 1784 Admon was granted to William Long Kingsman, following the decease of Catherine Scattergood.
