Will of Alice Kingsman, of Overton, Wiltshire. 1635


In the name of God Amen


The nineteenth day of February in the year of our Lord God 1634 I, Alice Kingsman of the parish of Overton in the county of Wilts, sick of body but whole and perfect of mind, God be praised, do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following:


First I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God trusting to be saved only by the blood shedding of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  


Item, I bequeath my body to be buried in the church of Overton aforesaid. 


Item, I give to my son Richard Kingsman half the wheat in my barn and one pair of new Holland sheets.


Item, I give to my four daughters Alice Stephens, Joane Hayes, Mary Smith, Catherine Smith to every one of them 20 shillings.


Item, I give to my grandchildren Thomas Stephens, William Stephens, Robert Stephens, Marie Stephens and Alice Stephens to every of them 10 shillings.


I give to Richard Smith, Francis Smith, Mary Smith and Ann Smith to every of them 10 shillings. 


I give to Richard Kingsman, Thomas Kingsman and Ann Kingsman sons and daughter of the aforesaid Richard Kinsman to every of them 10 shillings.


I give to Catherine Kingsman daughter of my son Robert Kingsman my bed and belonging unto it. 


Item, I give to the poor of Overton 10 shillings. 


Item, I give to the Church 10 shillings. 


Item, the rest of my goods not given nor bequeathed after my debts are paid I give and bequeath to Robert Kingsman my son whom I do constitute and appoint to be my executor to see this my will performed.
