Will of Richard Smith of East Overton. 1615


In the name of God Amen. 


I Richard Smith of East Overton in the County of Wiltshire, yeoman, being in health and good memory do make this my last will and testament the first day of August anno domini 1615 as follows first I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God assuring my self that by the death and passion of Christ I shall be saved and my body to be buried in the church yard of Overton aforesaid 


Item I do give to the Cathedral church of Sarum 12 shillings 


I do give to the church of Overton aforesaid 2 shillings 


Item I do give to Agnes my daughter 20 shillings 


Item I do give to Ann my daughter 20 shillings 


Item I do give to my daughter Agnes her children Edmond Willmott, Thomas Willmott, Fraunces Willmott, Hilder Willmott, Ann Willmott and Katherine Willmott to each and every of them five shillings of current English money and one of my Sheep 


Item I do give to my daughter Ann her children Bartholomew Malum, George Malum, Daniel Malum and Agnes Malum and to each and every of them the like price of five shillings and one sheep a piece 


Item I do give to Thomas Dymer my daughters son five shillings and one of my sheep and also I do give to John Dymer his brother five shillings and one of my sheep and also I do give to Eadie Dymer their sister five shillings and one of my sheep 


Item I do give to Alice White my daughters daughter five shillings and one of my sheep and all the goods in my chamber except five platters five candle sticks and two coffers 


Item I do give to my daughter Agnes the bigger of the said coffers 


Item I do give to my daughter Agnes her daughter Katherine a flock bed and bolster with a blanket sheet and coverlet and the second best brass pan and one platter and a candle stick and I do give to Ann Willmott her sister one platter and a candle stick 


Item I do give to the foresaid Agnes Malum one platter and a candle stick 


Item I do give to the aforesaid Eadie Dymer one platter and a candle stick 


My will and pleasure is that all the foresaid legacies shall be delivered and paid within twelve months next after my decease and I do make my loving son in law Thomas White and Margaret his wife my executors and do entreat my friends Gilbert Garrarrd and Richard Kingsman to be my overseers and do appoint that if any constraints shall arise concerning this my will that they shall be ordered by my overseers or the bider of them 


And whereas I have given to my grand children five shillings and one of my sheep a piece my will is that if my executors do pay to every of them ten shillings of current English money that then they shall not have any of my sheep before mentioned. 


Probate at Salisbury 26th November 1617 granted to Thomas White and Margaret his wife
