Will of Henry Kingman, Clerk. 1838


In the Name of God Amen 


I Henry Kingman, Clerk, do make this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all others that is to say 


I give and bequeath to my niece Mary Hurley the sum of one thousand six hundred pounds 3% ****** to be at her sole and entire disposal 


I give and bequeath to my niece Alice Kingman Balstone the sum of six hundred pounds 3% ****** to be at her sole and entire disposal 


I give and bequeath to my niece Ann Northcott the sum of twelve hundred pounds 3% ***** to be at her sole and entire disposal 


I give and bequeath to my grandniece Emma ***** Southfield the sum of three hundred pounds 3% *****to be at her sole and entire disposal 


Moreover I give to my niece Mary Hurley my silver watch and half my silver spoons and to Ann Northcott the other half of my silver spoons and ** metal watch and also all my clothes and wearing apparel 


Lastly I constitute and appoint my niece Mary Hurley executrix and administratrix of this my last will and testament and residuary legatee

The will was approved at the PCC when Thomas Tucker (snr) and Thomas Tucker (jnr) both grocers of High Street, Exeter, appeared in person and swore that the will was in the Rev Kingman’s handwriting and signature which they knew well. 


Proved at London 8th March 1838 by the oath of Mary Hurley, spinster, the sole executrix.
