Will of James Kingman of Holwell. 1780


This is the last Will and Testament


I James Kingman of the parish of Holwell in the County of Somerset, cordwainer, being in bodily health and sound memory do hereby make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following: 


First, I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid and satisfied. 


Item, I give unto Sarah the wife of John Serjeant (alias Chaffy) all my dwelling house together with what belonging thereunto during her natural life and after her decease I give the said dwelling together with what belonging thereunto to her daughter Hannah Serjeant and her heirs forever. 


Item, I give unto Sarah Serjeant daughter of the above John Serjeant the sum of five shillings also I give unto his two sons George and William the sum of five shillings each. 


Item I give unto Sarah Bartlett one shilling. 


Item I give unto Joseph and John Mogg five shillings each. 


Item I give under Stephen Mogg one Guinea. 


Item I give unto John Lodge one Guinea. 


Item I give unto Richard Marsh all my wearing apparel both linen and woollen.


All the rest and residue of my Goods Chattles whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath unto the said Sarah Serjeant wife of John Serjeant, to her own proper Use, whom I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Sarah to be my whole and sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament. 


In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the third day of September 1779
