The 9th day of March Anno Domini 1572 I John Blake of Stowforde in the parish of South Newton being sick in body and perfect of remembrance Thanks be to God do make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following: 


First I bequeath my soul to almighty God and my body to be buried in Christian burial 


Item I give to the poor men’s box of South Newton 6d 


Item I give to my parish church of Newton a wether sheep 


Item I give to Johan Elyott four wether sheep and a yearling 


Item I give to Grace my daughters child four wether sheep and a yearling 


Item I give to John Blake my eldest son’s childen each of them a lamb 


Item I give to my son Thomas Blake's child a lamb 


Item I give to Alyce Blake my eldest daughter’s children each of them a Lamb 


Item I give to my daughter Johan’s children each of them a Lamb 


Item I give to Alice Moyne a Lamb 


Item I give to Thomas Blake and William Blake a pile of Clystes by the streate yeate 


Item I give to Thomas my son a white heifer of two year old, half a score of wether sheep and three halves of wheat in Brockfurlande 


Item I give to Jherom Yonge a Lamb 


Item I give to Jeffrey Aben my son in law three bushels of wheat and half an acre of wheat lying in the bottom 


Item I give to William Blake the best bed with the appurtenances thereto belonging, a brass pot, a pan, a little cauldron, half a dozen of pewter dishes and a candlestick 


Item I give to John Blake and William Blake 40 shillings that Alixender Pearcy owes me 


Item I give to John Hughes clerk a wether sheep 


Item I give all the rest of my wool to John Blake save one cartload that John shall deliver to his brother William Blake 


Item I give to John Aben my daughter’s child and my godson a hogg of a year old 


All the rest of my goods both moveable and unmoveable I give to John Blake and William Blake whom I do make my full executors of this my last Will and Testament to see my debts paid my legacies fulfilled and performed and also to bwoye the yard land where John Blake now dwells for William Blake my son with the aforesaid goods 


Also I do ordain and constitute my well beloved in Christ William Bonldye and John Love to be my overseers of this my last Will and Testament to whom I do give in consideration of their pains each of them a wether sheep
