Abstract of the Will of Anne Kingsman, widow of Newport, Isle of Wight. 1684.

I, Anne Kingsman of the town of Newport in the Isle of Wight, Co. Southampton, widow, being weake and sick in body, etc...


I give my sister Frances Green of Newport my lease in Brooke Green in Shafflet in the said Isle, for her life, and after her death I give it to my couzen Mary Thearle for her life if it happen that George Jackman and William Thearle shall so long live.


I give my kinsman George son of George Jackman 50/- and to my kinswoman Mary Batchellor his sister a like sum.


I give my friend John Sanger 20/-, John Miller 20/- and to the poor of Shafflet 10/-.


I give my kinsman Edward Paine being in captivity in Turkey 50/-, to Anne Hedstock 20/- and Mary Woodman 20/-.


I give my couzen Mary Thearle £8, to my couzen Jane Smith 5/- and to her daughter Jane 5/-.


I give Mary White, Margery Blanchett and Elizabeth Blake 5/- apiece.


I give my sister Frances Green and couzen Mary Thearle all my wearing apparel.


I give my couzen Mary Green daughter of James Green one silver cup.


The residue of my goods etc. I give to my kinsmen James and John Green, whom I make my executors. In witness whereof etc...
